The Friend's have a rich collection of photos that we have amassed over our 37 years of work in the parks.
We are progressively uploading the photo archives to our website so they will:
- be preserved into the future
- not be dependant on physical storage or sitting on an individual's computer
- be available to members
- able to be organised to tell a story about the progress of our work in the parks.
This task has turned into quite a project. While it is quick and easy to upload photos - it is time consuming to write and add text that provides context to the photos. It is still a work in progress and I am currently working on adding more context to the photos already loaded into the photo albums.
Ultimately, I would like to create photo albums for all our project sites that provide a photo documentary of their progress.
There are no plans to make our archived photo collection available beyond our membership, although we may be able to assemble photo essays to promote the work we do to a wider audience.
We do have the capacity to make photo albums which are publicly viewable.
You can find the photo albums by logging in the the website with your membership details, going to the menu <about us> and choosing <photo albums> Click on <show all> to get the best arrangement of categories and albums.
If you have photos you would like to contribute to this project, either to be held in our photo archive or to be made publicly available, please contact the
secretary to arrange for them to be added. We can use digital formats and also have the capacity to make high quality scans of negatives and slides as well as scan photos as prints. You can indicate if you would like your photos to be able to be seen by only members or by anyone who accesses the 'Friends' website.
